Birmingham Vulcan Scott Kodadek passed away this morning. Yes, Big Scott, the Samoan. I believe he was in his early 20s. The autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. Stay tuned for details on the funeral and whether or not we need to chip in toward funeral costs or anything else. I don’t yet know if he had life insurance.

Mr. Kodadek just called me with the details.
Autopsy and info: The autopsy showed an enlarged heart. He was watching a movie at a friend’s place Saturday 1/31 and fell asleep. His friend noticed he was unresponsive so he took him to the ER. When he first arrived at the ER he had a pulse, but obviously that changed. I was not given any more details.
What can you do to help? There are three things you can do to help: 1. He said they do not need donations to the family but they would be honored if the team would take up a collection to be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. Please send money to me personally and I will make that donation is made in the name of the club. 2. If anyone has any pictures of Scott playing Rugby other than the one of him flexing his muscles at the Old White match, please e-mail them to me at pres@birminghamrugby.org so I can get them to Mr. Kodadek for the funeral video/collage. That was Mr. Kodadek’s request, not just my suggestion. 3. Be available as a pall-bearer if needed
