I'm curious how a player is "deemed in USA Rugby’s High Performance Pathway".

Nobody on our team would get on that HPP .. You have to be on track for the national team

So only the players that they think are national team material get the opportunity to get better by playing with a mens club prior to their college teams season ending. Not all players have an equal opportunity for exposure to be scouted for the national team. Typical USA rugby move. They change the rules to help a select few. At least the UAB players can join us once their season ends.

Yeah it's kinda weird but my understanding is to be placed on the HPP you have to be scouted by the national coaches
